Love for Alaina

Today, Crystal of Little Bit Funky and I have the honor of hosting "Love for Alaina", a mini fund-raiser for little Miss Alaina Joy…the daughter of our blog and etsy friend Trish, of Daisys and Dots. You can read more about Alaina here.

Today at 4:00 p.m. EST….Little Bit Funky and JaneSays will be listing 1 large tote bag and 2 small goody bags filled with originals from JaneSays and Little Bit Funky, there will be 3 listings in both shops. All of the goodies bear a little polka dotted heart to symbolize sweet little Alaina. ALL of the proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to help with Alaina’s medical expenses.

Sweets and Men

La Patisserie...a little bakery in town.
Yummy.
I stopped in to order the peanut's birthday cake.
I had to share these with all of you.

OK...snap out of it....they make me all googly eyed too.

On to ...MEN
Today sitting in my office...at my grandfather's building supply store...I heard an awful noise.
I took a look out of my 2nd story window to see this.

these 2 men....customers of ours...I don't know them...just a couple of do-it-your-selfers...that is what we call non-contractors.

I deducted from the raised hood that the racket was from the truck.

The man in the light blue shirt grabbed a hammer from behind the seat...never seen anyone use a hammer to work on a car before...but ok buddy.

The man in the navy shirt took it from him and crawled under the car.

Man in the lt. blue shirt then got himself some pliers and applied the plier technique to something under the hood. ( I am real technical ...huh?)

Man in navy then banged the hammer on a thing-a-ma-jig underneath the car. Voila !!!!

Note to self....put a hammer and pliers in the trunk.

I Won't Ever Get a Goodie Bag.....says Chloe

Chloe's birthday and party are upon me.
I get extremely overwhelmed around this time of year.
So much to do.
So many lists.
Things to do.
Things to get.
Things to decorate.

We began Together Tuesday with checking off some of those things to get. Chips...Dips..Chains...Whips...nah...just a quote from a classic 80's movie Weird Science...loved that one.

From the looks of that baking pan...something good is gonna happen around here later today.

I could not say no

Chole "needed" this Wall-e pillowcase.

I have not had a chance to wash it yet...and she is still all cuddled up with it...poor thing will probably have a razor burn type rash tomorrow....that thing feels like tree bark.

Some treat bag goodies for the big bash....just the beginnings of those.
All the while I am collection these goodies...Chloe is whining loudly....VERY LOUDLY up and down every aisle as I explain to here that these are for her guests...."I won't ever get a goodie bag".
hahahaha...poor Chloe...she will get a boat load of gifts but no goodie bag.

picked up this dress for me...stockpiling for Disney in the Fall.
Donkeys must be flying....and Hell freezing over....I am baking. Caramel Layer Squares....I saw this yumminess on Mel A Dramatic Mommy and had to take a stab at it....I say "stab" because I generally butcher some baking.
Here goes nothing.....
I will let you go HERE for the recipe...its very plain and simple...of course if you have a question...let me know.

After opening the caramels...and eating 1/10 of them....we melted them along with some evaporated milk.

Yum....
I am that baker that keeps lookin' in.....and sometimes I even open the oven door...I know that is a NO NO.

Voila !!!
Not bad...not bad at all.
Warning: They are super rich.....if you like rich...Go For It !!!
I am imagining this with a dollop of ice cream later on tonight.
Phew....I did it.

The Funnest Post EVER !!!!

Today....
We had lots of FUN !! In my attempt to find some FUN and original stuff to do with Chloe who is easily bored....I came across this at greetingarts.
Ice Treasures.

Find some small goodies.....freeze them in layers in a bowl.

Collect some tools

EDITED TO ADD.....THAT IS A TOY SCREWDRIVER AND SAW.....I am not that crazy !!

spoons, spray bottle with warm water, salt and go to town.

We all had fun doing this....

we chipped away and discovered goodies for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Chloe was the OFFICIAL water sprayer....don't even touch her spray bottle.
I thought about many of you while we were doing this.....

it was such a good family time...it was HOT ..... the ice was COLD.... and the smiles and laughter were everywhere !!Wow!!!

the treasures are piling up.

the only thing I will do different next time is buy some cheap new goodies that Chloe has never seen....this was spur of the moment and I just gathered up some odds and ends from around the house.

Ah Ha...more fun.....found this treat on Betz White.

FOAM !!! step by step instructions are there.

All you need is

1. Old bottle like a water bottle
2. Terry cloth like an old rag
3. dish soap or bubbles (I used both)
4. rubber bands

look how long that foam is.

Once again....we all LoVed this !!!

we will be doing this again....be sure to blow EASY !!!

Taters...

Just a thought....

Last night I had my first straight from the garden meal.
Fresh Corn.
Fresh Butter Beans.
Fresh Potatoes.
Fresh Cucumber.
and not so fresh okra because I did not have okra yet.

While preparing this meal I discovered something I have kinda known for a while now.
I STINK at peeling potatoes.
and I mean STINK.

My mom can peel a whole potato in one long strand.....there are so cool and curly lying on the little paper place she insists on using for her peelings to land on...I peel mine into my sink.

When I peel potatoes...I make peeling chips....and a plethora of chips I make. I waste so much potato...it comes off in chunks.

I STINK at peeling potatoes.
What mundane task do you stink at?
