Score

Yep.
I told you it was a score.
If you thrift, you know that feeling I am talking about.
You spot a jewel on the shelf amongst the crap.
Just in case the man in the shiny red athletic jacket from the 80's with no shirt under it chest hair
peeking and all or
the lady in the brown too small loafers sees the jewel too
you dash.
Trying not to seem to eager, I mean why would anyone dash for anything in a thrift store ?
People really look  at you when you do that.
Oooh...what is she getting ?
What did she just get?
Why does she want that ?
Is that valuable ?

While most of the folks in the thrift shop today had no clue
why I would want a pair of vintage paint by number owls
is understandable.
But I know you know why.

Best part .... on the back they read:
Painted by Mama 1976.

Another Random Post

I have attempted potato soup a dozen times....should be pretty simple right?
You probably have potato soup down, well not I.
Mine always Always ALWAYS looked yucky.  Every recipe I tried sort of separated, none of my previous attempts looked creamy they looked gross.

Since everything I have cooked from the Our Best Bites site has been fabulous, I thought I should give their potato soup a fair shot.

This soup was perfect.
Creamy.
Delicious.
Pretty.
After dinner it was printed and put in THE book, it's a keeper.
If you need a potato soup or just want to try this one, you can find it here.

Do you have a trim hoarding problem ?
I most certainly do.
I would be embarrassed to show you every spot that holds trim in my studio.
I love trim.
I love it so much I hate using it.
I buy bags of vintage trim at thrift shops with the idea in my head that they will be good for
tying up packages.
But do you think I can use it when it comes time to tie up a package...nooo....I go get me some plain ole' yarn and tie that package right up.
If you have ever gotten a package from JaneSays or JaneSays Vintage and it was tied up in something besides yarn, consider yourself lucky, you caught me on a weak day.

The Love Boat theme has been in my head this week.
This show is a big emotion evoker for me.
It was on the night that Mama washed my hair for the weekend (Church on Sunday).
I remember vividly standing on a chair at the kitchen sink while she washed my hair with Prell in a tube or Green Suave and I could hear The Love Boat coming on and could not wait to get my towel wrapped around my head so I could go sit and watch while my hair dried.

And much like the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie
If you think of The Love Boat and listen to the theme song
You will want to hear the Fantasy Island theme too.
Because they came on back to back....they go together like coffee and cream.

And if you get me going on anything, anything at all retro you will have a hard time getting me
to shut up.
So I will leave you with one more Too Close For Comfort.
Oh my gosh I LOVED this show.

Now I am off to Google Youtube and Wiki myself in to a retro television frenzy.

Little Book Of LOVE Tutorial

With Valentine;s Day around the corner I thought I would do a re-post of this cute Valentine Craft
Enjoy !!!

Little Book of LOVE Tutorial Just in time for Valentine's Day, a sweet little book you can make for you lovies.
First I created an image on my computer and printed out iron on transfers ( Be sure to print in mirror image when you make transfers....so they will iron on correctly). I iron these onto white fabric and then cut them out while leaving about a 1/4 inch white border around them.
If you do not have the ability or know how to make an image on your computer you can use fabric markers and make something real cute I am sure.
Cut your felt book cover(s).
I cut mine so that when it is folded over, like a book, it will measure approx. 3.5 x 3.5.
You can of course make yours any size.Fold it over to your desired book size.
Now to keep everything nice and straight I cut both layers together at the opening side of the book.

I am making 2 books so I have a pink and a red cover.....at this point the outside covers are cut and ready.
To make the pages I cut regular white paper width ways just a bit smaller than my book and then fold those over.
Stick the paper folded size in to the spine of your book, this will tell you where you need to trim your pages so they will not stick out of your book.

Trim the pages.
I include just enough for 10 things I love about you....10 pages.
Put as many as you like but keep in mind we will be sewing thru these in a bit.
On the cover you can also simply add a few felt hearts to the cover that is cute as pie too.

Now I sew my iron on image onto a contrasting color of felt.
I trim the felt away leaving 1/4 inch of the red felt around the white fabric.

Sew your image on the red felt on to the cover of your book......be sure you have it turned the right way so it works as a book.
With the folded side in once again stick the pages inside your book.
Being sure to hold the pages real steady stitch with a WIDE (far apart) stitch right next to the spine of the book. Be sure to use a wide stitch because a narrow or close stitch will basically leave a line of really close together holes in your pages and that will not last.
Done.
So sweet....so simple.
Your kids especially will love this.
This is what I put in my hubby's....I do indeed LOVE when he starts my car and turns on my heated seats.
Have a Happy Valentine's Day.
