Simple Bulletin Board Re-Do Tutorial

Chloe's room is getting a lil' sprucing up.
New paint, new bedding, new wall goodies and knick knacks.
My favorite item is her new bulletin board.
When I was young my bulletin board was a great way to express my likes and probably dislikes too.
This was where I kept my special goodies...photos of friends....posters of Duran Duran....tags off Eprit clothing....movie tickets...and lots of other paper pretties.
I think Chloe will enjoy having a place to stick her paper pretties too.
Just an ordinary slab of cork board would not do....no way... not in a house with a craft studio.
I gathered my cork board, a simple yet wide white ruffle and my HOT glue gun...yep got the blister to prove that.
How do I ALWAYS burn myself...how?
I glued the ruffle all the way around the board.
Then...you know how ruffle by the yard has that opening (see photo above) just glue that down too. So you will go around the whole board twice with glue...once to glue the ruffle down and again to close the opening of the ruffle.
Then go choose a collection of goodies....bits and pieces that you have or have been holding onto for a project....I grabbed a collection of flowers, a flocked deer, a glittered bird, some millinery leaves and a vintage sprig of beads.
Lay those onto your board and see how you want them placed and glue them on.
If your board is not ready to hang....turn it over and you can just hot glue a hanger on...like this.
NOTE: if your board if particularly large or heavy use a little something more than glue alone.
This makes such a pretty bulletin board.

Perfect for any little girl's room.

pretty pretty
Next on the list....make some pretty tacks.

Swell Seven

From a lovely online shop Ruche, I like the simplicity of this necklace very much.

How cool...how fun...the talented Rachel Denbow has created an e-course for Pretty Patchwork Pretties. Looks like fun and a it's great idea for crafters wanting to break into patchwork.

I love banks...I love flocking....I love animals....there for I love love love these flocked animal banks....just love.

Oh my...lovely photograph and I love the color combo even more...simply delish by Gary Scheidemann.

Do you watch the Neely's on Food Network...I love that fun loving couple and I LOVE this southern creamed corn recipe...had it tonight with a meatloaf and green beans....I cleaned my plate...two times.

Do you think that you have ever seen a more swell collection of trims....I think not...you can get them here.

Last but not least (the photos are not save-able) so you will just have to click here....if you LOVE beautiful and creative weddings.....don't miss this !!!

New Rule In My House

A week ago Chloe, while sitting on the potty and having some time to herself she
dropped one of her Jungle in my Pocket animals in the potty.
After checking out the situation I took a vote and Chloe, the dogs and I thought it was best to get Mr. JaneSays.
Mr. JaneSays was thrilled to be so popular and loved by his peers that he would be chosen for such a task.
I wanted to just flush it but Mr. JaneSays said that might be bad for the pipes and Chloe wanted her animal back......really !?!?!

So by a means I am not sure of Mr. JaneSays rescued the critter and said critter took a spa vacation in the dishwasher.
So Mommy made a rule No more playing with small toys while sitting on the potty.

One hour ago Chloe was having another moment to herself..... reading her Dairy of the Wimpy Kid, which is not a small toy so it's ok. Right ? Well ..... what do most books that you are reading have ?? Yes...a bookmark...you got it...in it went.

New Rule Effective 1-4-2011 NO objects of any kind on the potty....ever again.

Am I the only lady that has to make these crazy rules....tell me.

What is a Full Load

Today Chloe bit the dust on the playground at school
the knees of her pants caked in mud...the best kind of mud....red mud.
They of course had to washed immediately you can't just let red mud sit. I flicked off the big pieces and since I had just done laundry I didn't have much
to throw in with the jeans....and I can't stand to run a load if it's not full.
I put in her jeans a few washcloths another pair of jeans...her running shoes, the toe of the right one was playing around in the mud with her knees.
I went to my room to peel of my work clothes and get into my really horrid around the house clothes, you know the perfect ones with the holes and the paint on them.....Mhmmm...yes those.
It was just them that I noticed I could go toss my brown socks I had just removed in the washer also.
When I opened the lid, mind you this is not the first time I have even opened the lid just as the washer has started to agitate, but this time I noticed something I don't recall seeing before. It was like a storm in there.....all sloshing and violent and turbulent. I tossed the sock in and had an enlightening have I been over-loading my washer all my clothes washing life? Were the clothes always packed in too tight to slosh....and therefore to get clean clean.
Just what is a full load....what is a small load...and my washer had a medium load....for real what it that ?
So now here I will sit for a few and google what is a full washing machine load and see if I can't clear this up for myself....I think I have been sending my family out in not as clean as they can be clothes......woe is me.

2010

2010
Did I do everything I wanted to do ? no.
Did I have a good time? Mostly...life's ups and downs do come and I'm a short fused, quick tempered chic-a-dee, an easily upset type of gal to say the least.
Let's look at some of the highlights....sweep the low lights under the proverbial rug and chat about what 2011 might bring.

A large snow is ALWAYS something to talk about around here.

You people who live where you get REAL snow would just roll over laughing at what we think is snow and how it paralyzes us.
Preparations for the daddy daughter dance......my ruff tuff cream puff was a beautiful girl that night it was odd yet comforting to see her so snazzied up. I believe that was the start of a new sense of girliness in her, she put a portion of her tomboyness away that night. She traded in her boots for shiny silver dancing shoes and she loved them.
First team sport....t-ball of course. She didn't love it (much to here daddy's dismay)...but she didn't hate it either.
I am forever painting something and Daisy was my sidekick in 2010.
I will just dide when she no longer fits in cheesey kid rides.
First chairlift ride. It was high.
My 6 year old....I won't spill all the sentimental mumbo jumbo about how I simply can not believe she is 6 and how it seems like yesterday that I could bathe her in my kitchen sink and entertain her with something as simple as a set of car keys...ha it's so hard not to do that when you are a mom and you see your children becoming who they are going to be right before your very eyes.
Love this tradition...want to do this as long as we can.
One of my most favorite things to do is help at Chloe's school....its rewarding and fulfilling...it makes me happy and Chloe loves it too. Do you suppose she will mind when I want to help out at senior pictures too ?
Picking a tree at the Christmas tree farm, it's here that I force ( bribe) Chloe to give me great shots for my Christmas card each year....this picture says to me....look at me mom, I'm smiling aren't I so cute...now snap the photo...it's cold out here and I have not coat on for crying out loud...you and your crazy Christmas card photos.
The four-leggers finally are making nice.
as are the smallest four-legger and the two-legger.
Creating...it's good for us...we do love it
Our first corn maze we did horribly there were groups of young boy scouts finishing way before us and they started way after us....pitiful. Next year we will do better.

Chloe in charge of the point and shoot at Downtown Disney....these photos are priceless.
My favorite mouse......we love Disney World.... it is our most favorite thing to do as a family.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2011 is here and here is my list of....... oh let's call them goals in no particular type of order.
1. chill out, tame my temper and be more positive.
2. dive deeper into my devotions and my Bible and take Chloe with me.
3. finish my novel....writing not reading.
4. knowingly take part in one random act of kindness each week.
5. cook at least 2 new dishes a month.
6. paint my ceilings.
7. teach Chloe to ride a bike without training wheels.
8. make time for my grandparents...I'm lucky to have both of my mom's parents still with me.
9. reach out to my in-laws...I don't quite know what that will consist of yet...but something has to change, that is and has been a constant strain.
10. enjoy my niece....I have a niece on the way ..... due to be here in a few weeks...nothing heals the heart and warms the soul like a baby I am so looking forward to her arrival.
let's do this
have a happy day

Sleeping 6 Year Old Heads are Heavy

k...first read the previous post scroll down just a bit.........So here's the scene.

Mr. JaneSays has just gotten in from his golf trip...so he is extra tired.....oh Waaaaaaaaaaa !!!!! Poor man HAD to golf for 3 days.....so he decides to head up for bed ... oh....10:45 ish...yes...early for the ball drop.
Seriously.....I love Chloe buts sheees.....I have been with her and only her for 3 solid days while prince charming golfed.
After he goes up I'm just not content I wanna be i my bed too with my laptop looking for some vintage pillow shams to go with my new quilt.
So I put the house to sleep and head up, my 6 year old in tow.
So we can watch the ball drop together I make her a bed on my floor and turn on the TV.
It's 11:00 by now and the local news must come on and tell me of all the bad bad things happening in and around my area.....so I break it to Chloe we will have to wait 30 minutes before they take us back to the ball drop CELEBRATION.....to which she says OK mom...and lies down.
11:25 She has rolled on her side......uh oh.
11:35 She has rhythmic breathing...her lil' quilt is rising and falling.
11:45 She is out and I'm not having any luck at all finding vintage pillow shams.
11:55 The Backstreet Boys and the New Kids On the Block are performing together....somebody is getting old I see....maybe I am not one to talk.
11:57 I set my laptop aside....toss my covers and get in the floor behind Chloe's head and hold it up. I can NOT let her miss this and here is why I know this....I told her a month back we would get up early early and do the Black Friday Sales....long story short...I decided to sleep in instead, well she was F-U-R-I-O-U-S. Came storming in my room at 7:00 "Mom...is light outside.....did we not go?" walking heavy and fast outta my room....." Ugh...... Mom I am so mad at you"
So there you see why I can't fail her with this ball drop...right?
11:58 Still holding her head...Chloe .... get up...look its gonna drop in a second.....are you awake...nope eyes closed.
11:59 Still holding that head but even higher now....Chloe serious if you wanna see it open your eyes....look look look......14....hurry.....12....Chloe......9...you are gonna.....7...miss it.......4....3.....2.....1.....Chloe...did you see it...."No, Mom...leave me alone."
For crying out loud.......I walked fast and heavy to my bathroom.....and mutter softly...Chloe I am so mad at you....but I love you so...Happy New Year Baby...and man your head is heavy.

Have A Wonderful New Years Day
